User Centered Design

• User Centered Design is a structured new product development methodology.
  • It is an iterative process that has several stages.
    • From getting to know the user to collecting feedback after actual use.
  • It requires that useability be designed into the product from the start.
  • User Centered Design is sometimes called "Useability Engineering".

• To ensure good useability and user experience consider the user perspective during the entire product life cycle.
  • User needs and requirements should be considered all the way.
    • From concept development and product development to after sales analysis.

• Useability and user experience can be controlled with expert analysis and useability testing.
  • Early design alternatives and product prototypes can be used for verifying the design with target users and identifying problems early in the process.
    • The earlier design flaws are discovered, the cheaper and easier it is to fix them.
