More on Setting the Stage
- At some brainstorming sessions, everyone stands.
- Everyone is treated equally.
- Standing keeps people "on their toes" and makes the session go faster.
- If participants are to be seated, participants should be seated in a circle.
- Everyone is seated equally.
- The moderator, or person initiating the session, becomes part of the group and can play an equal role without imposing authority.
- The meeting room should be comfortable and have:
- A round table.
- An object in the middle of the circle gives people something to fix on while thinking.
- Space around the table in which to move about.
- Not too much as to make the group feel small in comparison.
- Comfortable chairs.
- Refreshments should be nearby.
- No external distractions.
- Have the four rules of brainstorming posted.
