Data To Be Collected

• Two types of useability metrics to be captured during an useability test are:
  • Performance data.
    • What actually happened.
  • Preference data.
    • What participants thought.

• In addition to qualitative notes about the useability test, quantitative data needs be collected to measure:
  • Effectiveness.
  • Efficiency.
  • Satisfaction.
  • Ease of learning.
  • Memorability.
  • Error frequency and severity.

• Determine how success will be measured for each task.
  • Figure out what needs be collected to measure success, for example:
    • Time to complete each task.
    • Number of steps to complete each task.
    • Number of errors.
    • Number of times a product feature is used.
    • Satisfaction with the product.
