What Is Product Quality

• Product quality is the product's ability to fulfill the expectations and needs set by the end user.
  • The product must work reliably and perform all of its functions.

• Product quality is the sum of two viewpoints, and more.
  • It can be subjective.
    • Quality is always in the eye of the beholder.
    • It depends on who is assessing the quality and in what context.
  • It can also be objective.
    • Quality can be achieved by producing statistics and defining proper threshold values.

• These two perspectives are insufficient when used separately.
  • A subjective evaluation often lacks the methods that allow objective measurement.
  • Statistics alone do not provide a complete picture.
