Configure An Apache Web Server For SSL

• To configure an Apache Web server for SSL:
  • Obtain and install a digital certificate.
  • An SSL module must be built in.
    • mod_ssl
  • Add the following lines to the configuration file.

    Listen 443
    <VirtualHost _default_:443>
          SSLEngine On
          SSLCertificateFile /path/ca.crt
          SSLCertificateKeyFile /path/ca.key
    </VirtualHost>

  • Start Apache with the correct SSL pass phrase.
