After An Upgrade

• Some releases of MySQL introduce incompatible changes to tables.
  • To avoid problems due to such changes, after upgrading to a new version of MySQL, run mysql_upgrade
    • mysql_upgrade will check the tables.
    • mysql_upgrade will repair the tables if necessary.
    • mysql_upgrade will update the grant tables to insure they have the current structure to take advantage of any new capabilities.
      • Otherwise, creating stored procedures and functions might not work.
