What is Hypertext?

Hypertext is text with links to additional information about that text. Hypertext fits very well into the hierarchical architecture of the World Wide Web.

The first known use of hypertext is in the Book of Psalms. The numbers above the words refer to a Psalm number where one can find more information about such word.
